The DAISY TROPHY was introduced and presented for the first time in 2006 at the Driffield Agricultural Show after a Yorkshire Terrier named Daisy won the hearts of the organisers. Daisy developed complications after a routine speying operation which left her in a coma for three days and intensive care for ten days. Since then her sheer determination to live has amazed everyone and despite having mobility, cognitive and sight problems continues to show improvement year after year. Daisy was awarded the trophy again in 2007.
In 2008 a Jack Russell named Sam won the nomination after he displayed bravery in alerting his family to an electrical fire that started one night whilst everyone was asleep. Sam's actions allowed the family to wake up and deal with the incident safely.
In 2009 a collie cross named Saffie won the trophy after enduring endless operations on her ulcerated leg which finally had to be amputated. During this she maintained ahappy dispostion and never complained. She won the hearts of all the staff at her local vets who decided to nominate her for the Daisy Trophy. The nomination brought tears to our eyes and we felt she was a worthy recipient og the Daisy Trophy.
We are now looking for nominations for this years DAISY TROPHY. The criteria to enter is;
any dog or bitch, pedigree or non pedigree, rescue or mongrol dog.
as shown any of the characteristics of courage, bravery or determination or any combination of the above.
